Every fashion blog needs a little black dress shot

A llow me to introduce myself and my new vintage fashion blog. My name is Courtney and I am a devoted second-hand shopper and have a passion for all things vintage. I've taken my time to understand time periods and each one's specific fashion trends. I also have a great appreciation for quality fabrics and unique pieces. In writing "Cute as a Missing Button," I've set out on a mission to demonstrate to vintage fashion enthusiasts, low-budget shoppers, and Bay Area fashionistas that great vintage items can be found quite easily when you take the time to sift through racks AND fantastic vintage (or vintage-inspired) looks can be emulated and executed quite well even if you are on a tight budget. According to Miss Manners,

The difference between a woman's most formal dress and her second most formal dress is whatever she wishes to make it

Jazz it up! Make it your own! I'm talking start with the basics. Build the foundation for an amazing ensemble and the accessories and unique flair can be added later!

So where will I begin this fashion scavenger hunt?

The answer is simple. GOODWILL.

I've selected the Goodwill locations in San Francisco as my source for fashion finds--in part because this creates an added challenge for achieving my favorite fashion looks BUT also because I respect and admire the mission set forth by Goodwill  Industries.

Stay tuned for future entries devoted to fabulous store finds and featured fashion profiles. For new and prospective readers, I invite you to share your Goodwill shopping experiences and upload photos of your newest vintage finds! A virtual retro retreat for the budgeted shopper (if you will).

Check out my newest finds from the Fillmore Street location.

If the shoe fits...

This is a great pair of size
7 1/2 Madden Girl tweed navy blue peep-toe heels. They have a great navy satin bow and are ridiculously comfortable. I couldn't leave without this steal--$8.50 for the win!
This outfit screams 1970's comfort and I can't get enough! A Club Monaco cashmere-mix turtleneck with nautical-inspired wide-leg jeans. I bought these Banana Republic jeans at Goodwill a while back and would be haunted in my sleep if I had let these two pieces slip away!

Green with Envy

A la Chanel
The outfit to the left was thrown in for kicks. I'm not much of a shorts-to-the-knee kind of gal nor do I think I could pull off the kelly green bermuda shorts. That said, this is the perfect vintage 1960's era summertime short with a ruffled top that I found surprisingly adorable once I tried it on. The iPhone throws off the effect a bit as it throws in an element of dissonance.

Didn't you get the memo? A little pop at the hip instantly elevates your fashion capital!
